#Cannabiscomingout: Lauren Unger
In honor of Tahnee Shah, June is #cannabiscomingout month. Every day this month we will share the story of a Cannabis Feminist's journey coming out of the cannabis closet. If you want to share your story, email us a photo and blurb or post it on Instagram and tag @cannabisfeminist and #cannabiscomingout to be featured.
"I didn't take coming out of the cannabis closet lightly but I had to do it. We live in a world filled with pharmaceuticals. By the age of 18 I had prescriptions for Adderall, Wellbutrin, Vicodin, Flexirol, Klonipin and likely more I can't remember. One after another these pills were given to help me take the edge off one or another. I was diagnossed with ADD in 9th grade and in 12th had the first of 3 surgeries for TMJ. The more pills prescribed the more numb I felt. And it wasn't just me, but it was people all around me falling down the rabbit hole. This past year I had enough and after moving to LA I realized it was time to share the meaning behind @hintofgreens. I am a proud cannabis smoker, I haven't taken prescription medication in over a year and I have never felt better! I don't get sick the way I did taking pharmaceuticals, I feel healthier and happier then ever and I am living my truth."
